Hailed in some quarters as the new queen of Country Rock, following the release of her highly praised 'Rock 'N' Roll Pony' album early last year, Gina Villalobos is at last ready to unveil her new album 'Miles Away'.

Although finished prior to the traumatic and life changing accident which resulted in Gina losing the total loss of vision in her right eye, the eventual release of 'Rock 'N' Roll Pony' outside the US was delayed for several months as a result. Written and recorded entirely since that fateful accident, Gina's new album, 'Miles Away', features 9 originals, and a stunning reinterpretation of the BeeGees' penned Yvonne Elliman hit 'If I Can't Have You'. Revealing a deeper, darker, more soulful and reflective side to Gina, 'Miles Away' provides yet further evidence of her burgeoning talent.

As well as receiving numerous press plaudits, 'Rock 'N' Roll Pony' also enjoyed a great deal of radio support, most notably from Bob Harris on BBC Radio 2 for whom she also recorded an interview and session the day after arriving for her first UK dates. Several tours in 2005 saw Gina performing shows in the UK, the Netherlands as well as Australia and New Zealand and a number of live radio and TV appearances saw her profile increase during the year, across Europe and further afield. As a result the release of 'Miles Away' is now much more widely anticipated than in the Americana/Alt Country circles in which she first gained attention.

To coincide with the release of 'Miles Away', Gina will play Ireland's prestigious Kilkenny Rhythm & Roots Festival at the end of April, closely followed by a full UK tour in May, before heading to Spain in support of Marah.

Press for 'Rock 'N' Roll Pony'

"...a hard-edged Americana gem, mixing sharp lyrics with the dirtiness of late-1970s Rolling Stones. Comparisons with Lucinda Williams are kind of inevitable right now, but others will soon be cross- referenced to Villalobos." - The Independent

"All hail the new queen of country rock!...She's got a copy of Exile on Main Street and kicks Jesse Malin's ass - this is country rock at its most melodic, subtle and heart broken." - Americana UK

The exotically-named Gina Villalobos sits atop her latest release Rock 'n' Roll Pony like a siren. And, like the siren, her songs are simply irresistible. This is not an album you'll grow to like, it's one you'll fall instantly and deeply in love with. Astute judges already have this pegged as album of 2005, they're not wrong. - NetRhythms

"Straight-up Rock, rooted but not roots music, with a twang and plenty of rough edges - in the same ballpark as say, the Honky Tonk Women-era Stones... Abundant lyric and musical hooks. This is intriguing stuff, full of heart and hard knocks." - No Depression

"...Unquestionably the finest voice in the country-rock genre today. She is not a Lucinda Williams wanna-be, nor is she a Chrissie Hynde knockoff. The fact that critics are reaching into such considerable artistic territory to find fitting accolades for Villalobos is an indication of just how good she really is. Villalobos, if Rock 'N' Roll Pony garners the attention that it is likely to, is an artist that others will be compared to in the very near future" - PopMatters
