Formed in 2010, Mustered Courage was born to bridge a gap between traditional bluegrass music and the Australian alternative music scene. Two long term friends collaborated with the goal to create a record blending modern song writing with the instrumentation and energy of traditional bluegrass music.
Laughing Outlaw’s Stuart Coupe has been heard to comment “I always wanted a band as good as The Old Crow Medicine Show on the label and I reckon I’ve found them.”
With its upbeat country-laced pop, “Money Mouth” will be the first infectious single released to radio whereas, the B-side, “On the Run” is a nostalgic bluegrass ballad revealing some of the best new songwriting and talent talent you’ll hear this or any other year.
Already blogs are talking about Mustered Courage with one commenting recently that the band are “Following in the footsteps of string-heavy groups like the Avett Brothers and Mumford and Sons.”
Sporting a name that inevitably reminds me of condiments, Mustered Courage are Australia’s answer to the recent “newgrass” movement, “born to bridge a gap between traditional bluegrass music and the Australian alternative music scene.”
