Piers Twomey
On Strange Advice Piers’ baritone and falsetto vocals are matched with his reflective lyrics inhabiting the recording’s alternately tranquil, playful and dramatic music.

References include Grand Salvo, Sun Kil Moon, Midlake and Bon Iver, matching a clear narrative with beautiful melodies, mysterious sounds and plenty of space.
The album was produced by Tony Dupe (Saddleback, Holly Throsby, Jack Ladder) at his quiet cottage studio home in Kangaroo Valley NSW, mixed by Tony in Berlin, and mastered at Skye Mastering off the coast of Scotland by Denis Blackham (Fennesz, Talk Talk, Rachel Unthank).

Strange Advice features 12 songs in a chamber-folk, sleepy-pop, experimental vein. Instrumentally organic and intimate, it features percussive loops, found sounds, double bass, violin, pump organ, piano and chorale vocals (by four female guest vocalists) alongside Piers’ vocal and guitars.

Tony and Piers have taken great pleasure in capturing, deconstructing and reassembling the songs here. Production and instrumental arrangements support each tale as they startle and stir the senses.

“A beautiful album, inventive, warm and intimate. Bloody excellent!“ Basil Hogios, Composer (feature film-Romulus My Father)
